It gets hot in there.
I’m amazed that this is something that continues to be an issue. I saw one of these just last night, dog left in a car in a shopping center with the windows all rolled all the way up.
It’s pretty simple - If you have a dog, don’t leave it in the car, especially with the windows rolled all the way up.
If you see a dog left in a car, call 911. A nice police officer will come and smash the window on the car to get the dog out. In addition to having to deal with a smashed window, the owner of the car may also get a fine / misdemeanor / animal cruelty charge, depending on where they are located.

Ohhh I should put my cactus back in my cup holder for summer. It all works out except when I once grabbed it instead of the shifter.

Unless you can leave your car running with a remote start, then it’s fine

I saw a dog left in a car for awhile last week, had the windows cracked and parked in the shade though. Didn’t seem like the dog was going to die.

i did something like this. I wanted the car to warm up while i closed down at work. I left the car running and took the keyless entry with me thinking i could just hit the button to unlock the door. I didn’t know that the keyless entry doesn’t work when the cars running. My father was pretty pissed to have to come get me having just sat down at a restaurant for dinner. this was also pre-mini monster days so they only loss was gas while it sat there running.

yea its sad we have to go over this every year. Also the stupid people who go get hair cuts or few beers ruin it for the rest of us who cant even go pay for takeout without being accused of trying to kill our children. The front page had a good article on this last week. I should be able to leave my (2) 3 year olds in the car while I pick up a pizza or something (given that I called it in and its ready for pickup)

I do this if I have to leave the dog in the car at any time (which is rare). I just turn the air on and hold the button before I take the key out. Mines an aftermarket system and the remote has a screen beeps/flashes at me when it’s about to turn off so I know when to hit the button again to start it.

They seriously need to pass a federal law allowing anyone to smash a window if there is an animal or a child left in a car. I recently found a dog panting and whining in a hot car at a doctor’s office, but luckily the owner was dumb enough to leave the door unlocked... I cracked the windows (thankfully they were manual cranks) and left a cut-in-half water bottle (makeshift dog bowl) on the driver’s seat, along with a note telling the asshole to park in the shade with the windows cracked if he can’t just leave the poor dog at home.

Or get a cat and leave it at home and never worry

Rather than smashing the window, let’s jimmy the door and replace the dog with a dead fish and let that roast in there for a bit.

This is my preferred method.

Running in quickly for something with a dog in the car for a couple minutes is one thing. Leaving a child in the car alone for any length of time just does not sit well will me.... Not is this day and age.
